How it works
Every recipe is written for a set number of people. The planner scales each dish to your guest count, then adds up the ingredients from all the dishes into one list: meat, rice, oil, yogurt, onions and so on in kilos and litres, with spices listed separately. Cups and spoons are converted to weight using a table (for example, one cup of rice is about 200 g and a medium onion about 150 g), so treat the result as a planning estimate, accurate to within about 10%.
How much to make
If your menu has several main dishes, such as biryani and qorma, each guest eats some of both, but at a Pakistani dawat it's always better to have a little extra. "Normal" follows the recipe portions; choose "Light" for gatherings with many children or a lighter meal, and "Generous" where people go back for seconds. If a dish is only for some guests, such as a dessert, change the number on its row. Our guide to planning a dawat has more advice on quantities.
About the prices
Market prices change every week and differ between cities, so the starting prices here are only examples. Type in what you pay; your prices are saved on this device and are also used in the cost panel on every recipe page.
